Brixton

Lambeth / Elephant & Castle – Come and walk in the same streets as Charlie Chaplin, visit the church where Augustus Pugin got married and see one of the sites of Bedlam. 

Vauxhall – The site of the medieval Falke’s Hall, Vauxhall became a popular 18th century playground with the Vauxhall Pleasure Garden near the river and the Oval cricket ground. With the decline of the Pleasure Garden however, Vauxhall became a very mixed environment of Victorian middle-class terraces, artisan cottages and Peabody buildings. It is still a vibrant mix of people – and a few spies! 

Greenwich – Greenwich has a long a diverse history but is particularly noted for its royal residences, its maritime past and its scientific connections. This walk takes you on a stroll through the village of Greenwich, its famous park and the grounds of the former Royal Naval College to discover this multi-layered past. 

Chiswick – This walk includes the Georgian village with its old brewery, the smallest square in London, the parish church of St Nicholas, and Chiswick House and gardens.  

Strand on the Green – Located on the north bank of the Thames east of Kew Bridge, Strand-on-the -Green is primarily made up of terraced houses from the 18th and 19th centuries and has had several famous residents. 

Bedford Park – Bedford Park was London’s first garden suburb, built on the grounds of an old Georgian house. It was the idea of Jonathan Carr and largely designed by Norman Shaw in the Arts and Crafts style.
